MOHAVE COUNTY – Sheriff Doug Schuster was a big winner in Tuesday’s contested Mohave County primary election races. The re-election seeking incumbent grabbed 79% of the vote to turn back Mike Gannuscio’s challenge in the republican primary. Unofficial returns show Schuster (23,624) leading Gannuscio (6,222) by 17,402 votes. Travis Lingenfelter is leading Jim Hamersley by 274 votes in the District 1 supervisor’s republican primary. DOLAN SPRINGS – An assurance of a misdemeanor conviction is the main sticking point in plea negotiations involving a firefighter being prosecuted for embezzling more than $24,000 from a Dolan Springs-based fire district. Phillip Picard, 32, was charged with fraud, forgery and theft following an investigation that determined he was paid by claiming hours that he did not work for the Lake Mohave Ranchos Fire District (LMRFD). Sullivan enters plea in tire store fraud case

BULLHEAD CITY – A Bullhead City woman who has admitted involvement in defrauding a local tire shop of thousands of dollars could end up in the Arizona Department of Corrections. Rhiannon Sullivan, 25, entered a plea agreement in Mohave County Superior Court on July 28. Prosecutor Morgan Carstensen said Sullivan and co-defendant Jacob Stoddard, 36, Bullhead City, engaged in a fraudulent scheme to criminally purchase more than $30,000 of goods and services from the Discount Tire Store in the 3600 block of highway 95.
