FORT MOHAVE — Valley View Medical Center (VVMC) is pleased to announce the addition of two highly accomplished orthopedic surgeons to its growing network of specialty care. David VanDeWyngaerde, MD, and Albert Washington Pearsall IV, MD, bring more than six decades of combined orthopedic experience to Mohave County, expanding access to specialized musculoskeletal care for residents of Fort Mohave, Bullhead City, and the surrounding communities.
David VanDeWyngaerde, MD

Dr. VanDeWyngaerde earned his medical degree from the University of Arizona College of Medicine and completed a six-year combined general surgery and orthopedic surgery residency in Phoenix — a program with a particular emphasis on trauma, joint replacement, and pediatric orthopedics. He also completed a fellowship in orthopedic research at the Harrington Arthritis Research Center and received specialized training in knee arthroscopy alongside the medical staff of the Arizona Cardinals.
Board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery, Dr. VanDeWyngaerde spent more than 20 years practicing at Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix, one of the region’s premier tertiary referral centers, before making a deliberate choice to bring his expertise to a smaller community.
His clinical focus spans hip and knee replacement, sports injuries, including knee arthroscopy, pediatric orthopedics, fracture care, and general orthopedics, including tendonitis, bursitis, muscle strains, rotator cuff disorders, and carpal tunnel syndrome.
Albert Washington Pearsall IV, MD

Dr. Pearsall brings more than three decades of clinical and academic experience to Valley View Orthopedics. He earned his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Chicago Hospitals, a sports medicine fellowship at Duke University Medical Center, and a trauma fellowship with the AO Group in Hannover, Germany, giving him a comprehensive surgical background spanning sports medicine, reconstruction, and complex trauma.
Dr. Pearsall spent more than two decades as Professor and Director of the Division of Sports Medicine and Shoulder Service at the University of South Alabama, where he also served as team physician for intercollegiate athletics. His clinical expertise includes sports medicine, arthroscopic shoulder procedures, and shoulder arthroplasty, total knee arthroplasty, and knee reconstruction. He holds fellowships with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, and the Arthroscopy Association of North America. Dr. Pearsall is also a veteran of the United States Air Force.
“We are thrilled to welcome Drs. VanDeWyngaerde and Pearsall to our community,” said Marcia Patterson, Chief Executive Officer of Valley View Medical Center. “Their combined expertise in orthopedic surgery, sports medicine, and trauma care means that patients in Mohave County now have access to truly exceptional orthopedic specialists close to home.”
