The Venue is most recent additional to downtown Kingman

KINGMAN – An entrepreneurial Kingman couple is excited about their new business venture, a unique enterprise providing special occasion and celebration space and ample lodging at two downtown properties that are fully-loaded and all-inclusive for weddings, graduations or maybe a class reunion.

Kevin and Stephanie Wilkerson have already hosted a wedding and a local service club function at their well-maintained property at 132 Oak Street that they’ve dubbed The Venue at Downtown Kingman. It features one bedroom and one  bathroom, with upsized refrigeration and other appliance and kitchen features for serving dozens of people.

The large backyard space provides a nicely prepared paver stone surface to accommodate large gatherings, with a gazebo and a stage for chapel or DJ/live music options along with an outdoor sound system. Tables, chairs, upscale barbeque equipment, a patio building equipped with a pool table and restroom and more are in the mix on site for convenience.

The Wilkerson’s also purchased the home across the street and the former Kiddie Korral property behind it at 135 Oak Street. Both have been remodeled for the primary use as Airbnb’s.

The house has three bedrooms and three bathrooms. The former after school childcare buildings were nicely renovated, upgraded and repurposed into separate units, each with two bedrooms and two bathrooms.

Customers can rent the buildings together or separately, selecting whatever amenity mix that they might require from the versatile hospitality center.

“We have a perfect storm in my opinion,” Kevin said. “You can rent this for the weekend or for one night, have your wedding here, maybe your reception, or just have a party here and people can stay the night and not worry about drinking and driving.”

The Wilkerson’s also own and operate the Slightly High Maintenance Salon, Innovative Stone & Landscaping and Innovative Auto Repair businesses. Kevin said they are thrilled with their new commercial endeavor downtown.

“The downtown vibe is where we wanted to be for a very long time,” he said. We love downtown. I would live here.”
