The current food truck situation in Kingman

letter to the editor

Dear Editor,

I’d like to address the current food truck situation. I have always been under the impression that there are Food Trucks who put out a unique menu for Special Events and Lunch Trucks, aka “Roach Coaches” as we called them back East, that put out frozen, pre-made food as main courses charging astronomical prices.

I subscribe to the local food truck pages on social media and watch their videos, occasionally venture out when I see something interesting. Some food truck owners show themselves making house-made sauces or even making their main dish menu items from scratch, while others show bottled salad dressing, frozen seafood, and french fries with a price that would match a fine dining establishment.

I wish there was a way to know the difference between the two so we, as consumers, know when we’re being fooled and price gauged. I read on a food truck page months ago where someone had commented on a post of a breakfast truck that was serving pre-made burritos wrapped in plastic. It appeared that this approach didn’t go over too well for them, so I’m assuming a positive critique would have been a mute point.

By the way, I’ve tried their food twice and that was enough for me! I am truly hoping that something positive can come about with this being brought to light. Kingman is severely lacking in original food options, however I don’t believe that re-heating food on a mobile truck or trailer is the answer.

Still looking for something good to eat…

  1. Agreed- I also wish restaurants (yes we are lacking variety) would put as much on social media as food trucks.
    They need our support too

  2. The same goes for whoever makes the decision on what venues open.up. we have Wal-Mart, why no target or kolls. Home Depot, why no lowes..where’s a good hot dog place, trader Joe’s, pastrami joint. Yes a good Pastrami comes on a roll yellow mustard and a good sour dill pickles
