Teen charged with vehicular assault

Abraham Junior Salazar Espinoza Jr.

BULLHEAD CITY – One Bullhead City teenager has been arrested after allegedly using his vehicle to deliberately strike a younger teen in the pickle ball area parking lot at Rotary Park in Bullhead City. Police responded at about 1 p.m. on Jan. 2 to the park in the 2300 block of Balboa Drive.

Abraham Junior Salazar Espinoza Jr., 18, Bullhead City was eventually arrested for attempted murder, aggravated assault and leaving the scene of an injury accident.

“Police learned that Salazar Espinoza drove to Rotary Park to confront the 15-year-old victim regarding a previous fight the victim had with Salazar Espinoza’s younger brother,” said police public information officer Emily Fromelt. “When Salazar Espinoza located him in the parking lot, he reportedly accelerated toward the victim and struck him with the vehicle.”

Fromelt said Salazar Espinoza fled the scene, leaving the injured victim on the pavement. He was arrested about four hours later at a family member’s home in the 1800 block of Artesia Drive.

Fromelt said the victim was transported to Western Arizona Regional Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Salazar Espinoza was transported to Kingman and booked into the Adult Detention Facility.
