Team set for county fair

KINGMAN – The Mohave County Fair is in its final stage of year-long preparations and ready to go with its opening on Thursday of next week.  Over 50 employees and volunteers are involved in the big event anticipated by thousands. County employees from many departments have been actively supporting the determined effort to make it hugely successful. Most will be on hand to commence working on the 2025 Fair right after the conclusion of this year’s affair.

In the last three months leading up to the 2024 Fair, over $30,000 has been invested in facility improvements, including: fire panel upgrades for the Expo Buildings; electrical system upgrades in the livestock stalls; energy-efficient lighting fixtures throughout the expo buildings and stalls; and other general improvements to the expo buildings and facility grounds.

Last Saturday, August 31, dozens of individuals and families from the 4-H and FFA came out to the Fairgrounds and helped prepare the livestock and small stock facilities for the Fair. Another workday is scheduled for the coming weekend to finalize any needed matters.

County Fair team members have met with officials from the Mohave County Youth Livestock Auction at the Fairgrounds multiple times in the lead-up to this year’s Fair to discuss their program and expectations. Parks Administrator Jeremy Palmer said, “we are happy to work with such a passionate and dedicated group of people. It’s been a joint effort to make it the most successful ever.  We’re heading in the right direction, for sure.”

The 2024 Mohave County Fair is held from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday, September 12, Friday, September 13, Saturday, September 14 and concludes on Sunday, September 15, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

There is also a lively carnival each day.

Parking on the fairgrounds is free.  Entry fees for each day are $12 for adults; $6 for Seniors, Veterans, and First Responders; $5 for children 5-12. All children 4 and under are free.

Anyone interested in passes for all four Fair days, they are $40 for adults, $20 for Seniors, Veterans, First Responders, and children 5-12.  They can be purchased online at a 20% savings.
