LAKE HAVASU CITY – A short prison sentence has been imposed in a stalking and harassment case that occurred in Lake Havasu City. The incident occurred last Dec. at the end of a relationship between Justin St. Marie, 33, and a 17-year-old girl.
They reportedly met online and the Chino Valley man drove to Lake Havasu on several occasions when he’d park in a wash behind her home and she would sneak out to visit.
Authorities said the girl had broken up with St. Marie and blocked his communication before police received multiple complaints that St. Marie parked in the same wash on Dec. 27 and honked his horn throughout the day.
Police arrested him for sexual conduct with a minor, harassment and other charges.
The Mohave County Attorney’s Office did not charge the sex offense and St. Marie pleaded guilty to one count of stalking. St. Marie apologized during his April 23 sentencing hearing and requested probation for a chance to prove he’s a better person.
Superior Court Judge Lee Jantzen instead ordered a 1.5-year prison term.
“You were already on probation, and for a short time, when this occurred,” Jantzen said. He said prior felony convictions also factored into the prison decision.
