School bus causes outage in MEC service area

BULLHEAD CITY  – On Tuesday, January 2 at 6:15 a.m., a school bus accidentally backed into a power pole causing two electrical lines to make contact with each other triggering the Silver Creek Substation breaker to open and cause an outage. This outage affected approximately 665 members in Mohave Electric Cooperative’s (MEC) service area expanding from Merrill Ave., Silver Creek Rd., Arcadia Cir., and Arcadia Bay. MEC crews responded, closed the breaker, and restored power to members at 7:12 a.m. There was no damage to the pole or electrical lines.

Outage restoration is important to Mohave Electric Cooperative. Please remember, there are many ways to report an outage. You can call our toll-free line at 1-844-632-2667, text “outage” to 55050 from a number linked to your MEC account or use our SmartHub® application on your mobile device to report the outage. You can also track outages at mohaveelectric.com/outage-center/
