Romero enters plea agreement; sentencing May 8

A Bullhead City man has entered a plea agreement involving a vicious beating last fall. Luis Romero, 26, accepted the deal April 5 after previously balking during a March 25 change of plea hearing.

Prosecutor Amy Gardner offered a more concise factual basis of the case than was detailed during the March hearing. Gardner told Judge Billy Sipe that the September 21, 2018 assault occurred in the 2000 block of Highway 95.

Gardner said that the victim suffered severe blows to the head when repeatedly struck by Romero. She said blood gushed from the head of the man who was treated at a local hospital.

Gardner said super glue was used to close a seven inch long laceration on one part of his head and that another gash on the left side of his head was closed with five staples.

Motivation for the beating was not offered. Terms of the deal require Judge Sipe to impose a 3.5-year prison term during a May 8 sentencing hearing.
