Rogers pleads not guilty to relationship with teen runaway

Robyn Rogers

LAKE HAVASU CITY – Not guilty pleas were entered Monday for the former Lake Havasu City school teacher accused of having a relationship with a 17-year-old boy who ran away from home in mid-Feb. Defense attorney Bob Heieck entered the not guilty pleas on behalf of Robyn Rogers, 44.

Rogers appeared by video from the Adult Detention Center while Mohave County Superior Court Judge Lee Jantzen conducted the proceeding a mile away at the Law and Justice Center. The defendant was soft spoken when answering questions during the routine arraignment that concluded in mere minutes.

Rogers faces two sexual conduct with a minor charges for alleged incidents in April and July at her residence in the 1400 block of Beefeater Dr. She is also charged with custodial interference.

The boy was spotted running from the defendant’s home when Lake Havasu City police contacted Rogers to ask if she was harboring the runaway. He was reportedly detained following a short foot pursuit.

Judge Jantzen informed Rogers she could face many years in prison if convicted of all charges. He scheduled a pretrial conference for Aug. 26 but told Rogers he’d likely hold a hearing next week to consider Heieck’s motion to lower her $25,000 bond.
