President Trump sends letter to local fourth graders

KINGMAN — Ms. Laurie Wolf’s small class (15 students) at Emmanuel Christian Academy was learning about the three branches of government and the U.S. Constitution. During the process, the students made a realistic Lego® replica of the White House.

Ms. Wolf said 90% of the work on the project was completed by the students.  They received a little bit of help with their mistakes from a man they call Grandpa Wes; otherwise, they completed the project on their own.

“They decided that they wanted to write a letter to the President after talking to call Grandpa Wes,” explained Ms. Wolf. “He said ‘wouldn’t it be neat if we told him what we were doing and if he answered back’?

“So, we did it and, sure enough, we got a response.”

President Trump not only sent a letter to the class but also individual letters to each of the students. Additionally, they received 8×10 color photographs of President Trump and Vice-President Vance.

Included as well were copies of the Bill of Rights and excerpts from the U.S. Constitution on the Powers and Duties of the President. The class was thrilled about getting the letters.

The President wrote, in part, “The future of America is brighter than ever, and with young people like you, I know our country will continue to be the greatest in the world. Always work hard in school and dream big–there is no limit to what you can achieve if you believe in yourself.”

“They (the class) memorized the preamble to the Declaration of Independence and now they’re working on the beginning of the Gettysburg Address and…they are now into the Civil War.

“But we are also in fourth grade, we have to do Arizona history. So, we’re working on where everybody picked a point of interest yesterday, and we’re all doing posters about different points of interest here in Arizona.

“They’re also memorizing all the 50 states and capitals. They’re very busy.”

She said the class is also fundraising to go on a trip to the Ark Encounter in Kentucky.

Principal Tiffany Johnson said that the school opened its doors in 2,000. “So, we are on our 25th year,” she said. “We have children kindergarten through eighth grade.”

They rent the school facility from the First Southern Baptist Church which is next door to the school. She said they have a great relationship with the church but they are growing and running out of room.

“We use every nook and cranny in this place, which is a wonderful problem to have. So, we need to expand,” Johnson explained.

The school purchased an old church property off of Gordon and Bank Street. She said they are in the process of raising funds to eventually finish the project and move the school to the new location during the 2027-28 school year.

“Our goal in the future is to have junior, kindergarten, all the way up to the 12th grade,” she explained. “Every subject has our curriculum as Abeka or BJU (Bob Jones University Press) and so all of it has biblical aspects.”

Johnson emphasized that they say the pledge of allegiance every morning, have chapel every Thursday and sing the national anthem and other patriotic songs every Monday.

Ms. Wolf’s class was excited about the letters from the President and unanimously agreed that Emmanuel Academy is a great place to attend school.
