LAKE HAVASU CITY — This month, Ohana Care Connections will be celebrating veterans by giving back to them at their very first donation drive.

In just September of this year, Ohana Care was founded by Hawaiian native Taylor Mauhili.  With a career background in elderly care and a college degree in social work from Northern Arizona University,  Mauhili wanted to bridge the gap for the need in health care for the aging community in their declining years.

In the Hawaiian language, ohana means ‘family,’ and the company prides themselves on finding assisted living and memory care facilities for families in need.  With the approaching annual veterans day celebration along with Thanksgiving, the healthcare organization thought  this would be the perfect time to provide some charity towards our local veterans at their Harvesting Hope for Veterans fundraiser.

The charity will be accepting donations such as home appliances, clothing, and food.  Ohana will then distribute all donations to four separate Mohave County nonprofits.

Two veterans villas located in Kingman and Lake Havasu, Salvation Army of Quartzsite, and Veterans Thrift Shop of Lake Havasu.  Ohana’s first ever Harvesting Hope for Veterans will take place on Saturday, November 22 at Lakeview Terrace Memory Care located at 320 North Lake Havasu Avenue in Lake Havasu City.  Mauhili feels that with the overwhelming dedication veterans have given, the upcoming campaign is a great way to show appreciation.  “They’ve given us so much, I always feel that giving back to our veterans is needed,” Mauhili said.
