MRF hosts KUSD Superintendent, board members

KINGMAN – The public is invited to the Mohave Republican Forum (MRF) meeting on Wednesday evening, September 11, at 5:30 p.m., with Kingman Unified School District (KUSD) Superintendent Gretchen Dorner, KUSD Board Members Bruce Ricca and Gary Waters. The three will advocate for the school bond, all of whom will be speaking and answering questions regarding the not-to-exceed $35 million bond upcoming on November 5 election. Topics and questions to be answered include: Should the historic Palo Christi School be preserved and updated to be usable? Should La Senita Elementary School be put into a condition to be reopened and used?  Should student security be improved, and aged HVAC units be replaced with more efficient and effective equipment? Does KUSD need additional or replacement buses?

Other topics which may be addressed include what is being done to retain and graduate students, and have those students at a level for effective employment, trade school, or college and beyond? What is being done to provide increased athletic opportunities? What is presently being done to provide appropriate and adequate school security to help avoid the tragedies which have occurred in other communities? What is being done to provide a positive learning environment including one in which those who want to learn are provided a non-disruptive environment?

The availability and quality of educational opportunities are of highly significant importance for this community, not only for its families, but for community and economic development. This is an opportunity for a timely update and to ask questions regarding the topics outlined hereinabove and other matters.

MRF meetings are held at Golden Corral, 3580 Stockton Hill Rd. There is an admission charge of $2 per person to assist with the meeting costs. An early bird special price is available for those arriving and paying for their meals prior to 4 p.m.
