“Unearth a Story” with Family Event
MOHAVE COUNTY – Readers of all ages are invited to participate in Mohave
County Library District’s 2026 Summer Reading Program, “Unearth a Story”. The 2026 Summer
Reading Program runs from May 22 to July 11.
To launch Summer Reading, each branch will host an all-ages, free family event featuring
Jungle Jill’s Animal Encounters. “Jungle Jill” is a wildlife and conservation educator based out
of Phoenix. Join them for an unforgettable experience and up-close encounter with live
animals, while discovering fun facts about creatures great and small. Summer Reading kick-
off events will be held at the three main branch locations on the following dates and times:
Kingman Branch: Friday, May 22, at 3:30 p.m. in the Community Room
Bullhead City Branch: Saturday, May 23 at 10 a.m. in Community Room A/B
Lake Havasu City Branch: Saturday, May 23 at 2:30 p.m. in Community Room A/B
These are ticketed events, and free tickets are available on a first come, first served basis at
each branch starting on May 8. Tickets are required for entry.
Held annually, the Summer Reading Program is open to all ages and is designed to support
literacy and strengthen reading skills outside of traditional school schedules. Participants can
earn points and prizes by logging reading minutes, completing online challenges, and
attending library hosted events. Free themed activities and educational programs for babies,
toddlers, children, teens, and adults are planned and may include family story times, art and
craft projects, group games, STEM programs, and much more!
The 2026 Summer Reading program concludes on Saturday, July 11. Each branch
location will host their own all-ages wrap-up event during the final week of Summer Reading
with free activities and prize raffles for program participants.
