FT. MOHAVE – If the opening day – including barbeque grilling, a DJ spinning classic rock and folks dancing – is a glimpse of what is to come, everyone will have fun at the Mohave County Donation Center.
A large group of donors, staff and friends joined the Bullhead Area Chamber of Commerce this week to officially cut that red ribbon and unite forces. The donation center building has a good amount of room for clothing, household items, and used, decent furniture.
The idea for this operation was born about 15 years ago when shop leaders were involved in a women’s empowerment nonprofit and decided to launch a thrift store too. After all, many items in it benefit families starting over and other resources could be connected. Operating with more efficiency while taking care of others is what owner Anibal Alvarez is striving for.
The new business is looking for volunteers and various types of donations. They will also be deciding what efforts they can support and what partnerships they may forge toward addressing community needs.
Laughlin Chamber of Commerce staff including Val Gabaldon, Michelle Crider and Joyce Marino were joined by several volunteers. The center is located at 4260 Highway 95, Fort Mohave, AZ 86426. It will be open from Tuesday through Saturdays from 10 am to 7 pm and Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm.
