KINGMAN – A ribbon cutting ceremony was held Friday outside Kingman City Hall to dedicate a memorial bench in honor of former Mayor Carol Anderson. The bench was purchased and arranged by Anderson’s family as a tribute to her many years of public service. Kingman Mayor Ken Watkins attended the ceremony to honor Anderson’s legacy and take part in the dedication.
Carol Anderson served as Mayor of Kingman from 1984 to 1986 and again from 1988 to 1996. She also served 12 years on the Kingman City Council and four years as a Mohave County Supervisor. Her decades of leadership and commitment to public service left a lasting impact on the community.
Memorial benches, like the one dedicated to Anderson, are part of the City of Kingman Parks Department’s Memorial Tree Planting and Bench Program. The program allows families and individuals to create lasting tributes to loved ones while enhancing public spaces.
These tributes not only honor the memory of loved ones but also provide meaningful spaces for the community to gather, reflect, and enjoy the city’s parks. Over time, trees flourish and benches serve as places of rest, ensuring the memory of those honored continues to grow alongside Kingman.
