MCSO involved in shooting – deputy identified

LAKE HAVASU CITY – Detectives from the Lake Havasu City Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit are actively investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred on May 11 in Meadview, Arizona.

On May 11, 2026, at approximately 6:40 p.m., deputies from the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) were dispatched to the 22000 block of Pierce Ferry Road in response to a disturbance involving a neighbor dispute. Upon arrival, deputies were told by the reporting party that a male subject had entered their property, acting strangely and making threats.

The deputies then responded to a property in the 4200 block of Gold Basin Drive to contact the male subject.  Upon deputies’ arrival, a male subject exited the residence and fired a weapon at the deputies.  One deputy returned fire, striking the subject, who retreated into the residence.  The subject eventually exited the residence, and deputies were able to render medical aid until the subject was transported to a Las Vegas Hospital via helicopter with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect has been identified as 68-year-old Scott Allen Hulley of Meadview, AZ.

Scott was later released from the hospital and transported to the Mohave County Detention Facility, where he was booked on two counts of aggravated assault with a dangerous weapon, two counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, and one count of resisting arrest.

On May 13, 2026, Scott had his initial appearance in court, where he was held on a $50,000 cash only bond and remains in custody at the Mohave County Detention Facility.

The deputy involved in the shooting has been identified as Deputy Jason Thien with a total of 23 years of sworn law enforcement experience.

In accordance with standard protocol, an outside agency is conducting the investigation into the officer-involved shooting.
