KINGMAN, Ariz. – Authorities have identified the person killed and provided more information about a deadly shooting involving two Mohave County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) deputies. The Bullhead City Police Department (BHCPD) is conducting an independent investigation, which is standard in Officer Involved Shooting (OIS) incidents.

BHCPD Lieutenant Eddie Espinoza identified the decedent as Sandra Keeme, 48. He said MCSO deputies responded at 9:25 a.m. on June 15 to conduct a welfare check at a property in the 17000 block of Blue Willow Lane, about 30 miles east of Kingman.

While enroute, the deputies were notified that Keeme was armed and threatening self-harm, according to Espinoza. He said arriving deputies separated Keeme from another party on scene when she stood up and began walking out of the residence while possessing a pair of scissors.

Espinoza said Keeme ignored commands to drop the scissors before she was not affected by tasers deployed by deputies.

“Sandra was able to enter her nearby vehicle and retrieve a firearm,” Espinoza said. “Sandra turned towards deputies which resulted in the officer-involved shooting.”

Keeme did not respond to life-saving measures and was declared dead at the scene.

Deputies who discharged their firearms are identified as Dustin Fields and Angel Gomez. As is custom, both are on paid administrative leave while the OIS is under review.
