Acupuncture and herbal therapy is now available in Mohave County! Barbara Laughlin opened Mohave Acupuncture and Herbal Therapy last month in Dolan Springs.
Why acupuncture? “It’s natural medicine, strengthening the body while it deals with the chief complaint. Acupuncture can help with a variety of ailments including old and new pain and injuries, stress and anxiety,” said Laughlin. “Years ago, my husband had a severe injury, and acupuncture helped him. That’s what made me decide to go into this field. He encouraged and supported me to go to school and then make it my lifelong goal to help others with their health.”

Laughlin says acupuncture can help anyone – young or old, men or women. “I offer an individual, flexible approach. I customize the treatment plan to match the client’s needs,” said Laughlin. “Acupuncture can be a great addition to women’s health as well. I’ve been able to help couples achieve pregnancy as well as addressing other gynecological concerns.”
Afraid of the needles? “You don’t have to be afraid,” said Laughlin. As a specialist, I have the training and ability to minimize any pain involved in the treatments. And needles are so thin – the diameter of a strand of hair. I integrate other modalities, such as massage, heat, scraping, and cupping. The more relaxed you are, the better the treatments can work for you. In fact, so many people comment on how relaxed and well they feel after their treatment!”
“With so many lung problems in Arizona, I offer individualized herbal therapy that can be used in conjunction with medicine or your own home remedies. Herbal decoctions are often the best front line to address acute problems,” said Laughlin. “Herbal therapy can also be great for the common cold, allergies, respiratory problems, and immune system issues.”
Laughlin brings decades of experience to her practice. “I’ve been certified and practicing acupuncture and herbal therapy since 2006,” said Laughlin. Laughlin practiced in her own clinic in Wyoming for 13 years before moving to Dolan Springs and opening her new practice there.

She is licensed in Arizona and holds national certification in both acupuncture and herbology. She earned her Master’s degree in Oriental Medicine and a Bachelor’s degree in Professional Health Science.
With Laughlin’s mission statement being, “Bringing the best of the traditional Chinese medicine to the Mohave region,” she is proud to say she is the very best of the best. “There may be other people who provide the same services, but the benefit of coming to me is that this is my specialty. I continually keep up with additional trainings to keep my skills honed – so that I will be more knowledgeable with my practice and with my clients,” said Laughlin.

An initial consultation including the first treatment is $85. “Because services are specially customized for each individual’s needs, follow-up treatments are offered in a personalized package with flexible plans,” said Laughlin.
