Lake Havasu City man takes plea for weapons charge

Interior of courtroom

LAKE HAVASU CITY – A Lake Havasu City man charged with reckless handling and discharging a firearm has entered a probation guaranteed plea agreement rather than face possible prison time. Jett Masche, 21, pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct involving a weapon during a Monday hearing at the Mohave County Law and Justice Center in Kingman.

Lake Havasu City police said Masche discharged multiple rounds of gunfire on March 28 where people had gathered in the desert area of Bison Boulevard.

Deputy Mohave County Attorney Jacob Cote told the court Monday that Masche had been in a physical altercation before he displayed a firearm and discharged it into the open air, with a number of people in the vicinity. No one was injured and Masche was arrested as a passenger of a vehicle that was stopped after the incident.

Multiple endangerment counts are dismissed in the deal and the disorderly conduct conviction will be designated a misdemeanor if Masche successfully completes probation following sentencing on July 10. Terms of the deal also require Masche to forfeit the Glock 26 handgun used in the incident.
