Kingman Young Marines honor Pearl Harbor veterans on December 7

Dear Editor,

An estimated 160 Young Marines from around the nation came together to honor the service of our WWII service members during the 84th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. The Kingman Young Marines were one of the 27 Young Marines units who attend this historic event.
Thirteen members of the Kingman Young Marines and four adult volunteers joined together to travel to Pearl Harbor to participate in a series of events and memorial services which included a Wreath-laying at the National Memorial of the Pacific, carried banners in the Pearl Harbor Day Memorial Parade and helped man the many floats that paid tribute to the survivors and family members of those who died on December 7th 1941.
The Kingman Young Marines had one added experience as they spent the night aboard the battleship USS Missouri, nicknamed the “Might Mo” and learned about her history during WWII.
The Kingman Young Marines wish to thank the members of the Kingman Community who contributed to this project and allowed them to participate in this historic educational event and learn firsthand about our nation’s military history.
Terry Flanagan
Training Officer — Kingman Young Marines
