Kingman census winners to be recognized

KINGMAN – During the City Council meeting March 3, Kingman Mayor Jen Miles will recognize the student winners of the Census 2020 essay and poster contests. Middle school students at the Kingman Academy of Learning entered the essay contest of, “Don’t count me out, my count matters,” whereas elementary school students drew posters to show the importance of the Census.

“I am so thrilled that Kingman students took the time to research and write about the importance of the Census and how those funds will help the City of Kingman,” said City Manager Ron Foggin. “April 1 is National Census Day and the more we get our community involved in being counted, the better off Kingman will be for years to come,” Foggin said.

Kingman City Clerk Annie Meredith spearheaded these efforts, and worked with the schools to collect essays and artwork. The City of Kingman has a strong Census team that has presented information to all the local schools, as well as other local events and groups. If you would like someone from the city to present Census information to your group, please contact Sylvia Shaffer (928) 753-8131 or sshaffer@cityofkingman.gov.

The Mayor will award each winner at the beginning of the Council meeting next Tuesday, March 3, at 310 North 4th Street, beginning at 5 p.m.
