Kemp to receive Lily Mae Hester Scholarship

KINGMAN – Kingman’s own, Erika Kemp, is this year’s 2020 recipient of the Lily Mae Hester Scholarship through the United States Bowling Congress.

Kemp, senior at Lee Williams High School, has been bowling since the age of seven, and is a member of the Youth Bowling League. She is a member of the National Honors Society, Senior Class President, Student Council, American Sign Language and FBLA, just to name a few.

Her future plans are to attend Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, where she will study Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and hopes to use the scholarship toward room and board along with her scholarship from GCU that will cover her tuition.

“I’m going to be majoring in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and my hopes for that is my dad has had type-1 diabetes for over 20 years now and I really want to do research on diabetes and hopefully find some advancements in that and help my father in the future,” said Kemp.

Erika recently traveled for Phoenix, where she competed in the Pepsi Tournament. For more information visit www.bowl.com or check out the Kingman Youth Bowling League at Cerbat Lanes.
