Hedge gets prison time for stabbing boyfriend

KINGMAN – A local judge cited her prior criminal history as key in his decision to send a Kingman woman to prison rather than place her on probation. Ellen Hedge, 49, was convicted of aggravated assault for stabbing her boyfriend during an alcohol-fueled argument on March 1.

Defense attorney Jonathan Robinson said Hedge was dealing with depression and anger management issues leading up to the violence at an apartment complex in the 3800 block of Andy Devine Avenue. The victim reportedly required stitches to close wounds to his chest and an arm.

“I’m sorry for what I’ve done,’’ Hedge told Mohave County Superior Court Judge Derek Carlisle during an April 24 sentencing hearing. “I know I can do well and change my attitude toward myself and others.”

Carlisle said Hedge racked up at least three misdemeanor domestic violence related convictions in 2024 and 2025 and that the felony stabbing represents an escalation requiring incarceration.

Carlisle imposed a 2.5-year prison term.
