Havasu Fire and Police Departments release July 4th holiday weekend statistics

LAKE HAVASU — The Lake Havasu City Police Department releases its July 4th Holiday weekend statistics from Friday, July 4th to Sunday, July 6th, 2025.

In total, the Lake Havasu City Police Department received 796 calls for service and made a total of 51 arrests, 41 of which were booked into the LHCPD jail, eight were cited and released, and two were juveniles who were referred and released. Six of these arrests were felony in nature.

During holiday weekends in Lake Havasu City, traffic safety is of utmost importance and concern. The LHCPD provided enhanced traffic and DUI and during this year’s July 4th holiday weekend, a total of 10 DUI offenders were arrested, one of which was felony in nature. A total of 234 drivers were contacted during civil traffic stops.

The Lake Havasu City Fire Department responded to a steady number of calls over the Independence Day weekend, ensuring the safety of residents and visitors during one of the city’s busiest times of the year.

Between July 4 and July 6, the department handled 124 incidents over the three-day holiday, averaging 41 incidents per day. This call volume is consistent with previous years, demonstrating the community’s ongoing commitment to celebrating responsibly while supporting public safety efforts.

In comparison, the department averaged 35.5 incidents per day in 2024 during the four-day holiday weekend. As in past years, the majority of incidents were emergency medical service (EMS) calls, making up over 61% of the total calls. The department also responded to a small number of fire-related incidents, including one building fire and minor brush and rubbish fires.

Fire Chief Peter Pilafas expressed appreciation for the community’s efforts to celebrate safely, noting, “We thank our residents and visitors for their mindfulness during the holiday weekend. Our crews were well-prepared, and we’re grateful to report a safe and steady Independence Day weekend for Lake Havasu City.”

The Fire Department encourages residents to continue practicing fire, water, and heat safety throughout the summer. For additional information, please contact the Lake Havasu City Fire Department at (928) 855-1141.
