Firefighter treated for heat exhaustion after fire incident

On Friday, April 26, at approximately 4:20 p.m. multiple units were dispatched to the 1000 block of Church St. for the report of a mobile home on fire. Arriving units reported dark black smoke and flames coming from the garage and rear of a double-wide mobile home. All occupants were outside of the home and accounted for. After securing the utilities, crews quickly pulled a line and began the fire attack. Battalion Chief Stephenson arrived on scene taking command directing firefighters to pull additional fire attack lines. Once the fire was knocked down, crews were able to enter the structure and check for any fire extension inside of the home. Additional hot spots were located in the interior wall and attic space of the back bedroom. Firefighters then pulled the wall and ceiling and applied a compressed air foam system (CAFS) to extinguish the area.

Crews continued to rotate through the overhaul and rehab process. One firefighter was treated for heat exhaustion during the incident. The Red Cross was called to assist the five occupants and one dog that were displaced by the fire. Fire investigators arrived on the scene, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time.
