DV Awareness Walk set in Havasu

LAKE HAVASU CITY – Havasu Abuse Victims Education Network (HAVEN) Center will be bringing recognition for crisis victims with their 11th Annual “Save a Life” Domestic Violence Awareness Walk. HAVEN Provides services to victims and families in crisis at no cost. The organization works alongside various other like-minded organizations such as the National Domestic Violence Hotline, The Arizona Child and Family, Advocacy Network, Lake Havasu City, a many more charitable groups that give assistance to victims of abuse.

In honor of October’s National Domestic Violence Month, each year HAVEN has helped share their knowledge of these unfortunate circumstances with the community, and the many ways they can help. In a study conducted by the U.S. Department of Justice, one in four women will suffer from domestic violence.

In many scenarios, the incidents are experienced in the hands of a previous spouse or intimate partner. Statistically, three women on average lose their lives as a result of domestic violence.

This year, the 1.5-mile walk welcomes all individuals affected by domestic violence to help bring awareness to these ongoing dilemmas.  HAVEN’s 11th Annual “Save a Life” Domestic Violence Awareness Walk will be taking place on Friday, October 11 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Rotary Community Park.

Participation fees are just $20, which also includes a t-shirt. Registration information can be accessed by visitinghavencenterlhc.org. All proceeds will go to HAVEN which will help them to continue to assist vulnerable  adults and children of domestic violence, increase successful prosecutions for the abusers, and reduce the trauma suffered by the victims.
