Roommate arrested in shooting death

LAKE HAVASU CITY – A Lake Havasu City man was arrested after a deadly shooting late Sunday, Oct. 6. Police responded at 10:55 p.m. to the 2100 block of Barranca Drive where they found a male with a gunshot to the chest in the rear of the home.

Sergeant Kyle Ridgway said lifesaving measures were administered immediately and that the victim died following transport to the local hospital.

“The preliminary investigation indicates that the homeowner believed the individual was an intruder and fired in response,” Ridgway said. “The victim was later determined not to be an intruder but a co-habitant of the residence.”

The shooter, 52-year-old Justin Wilcox was arrested on homicide and manslaughter charges. The name of the deceased is initially withheld.

Ridgway said additional details will be released and the investigation continues.
