LAKE HAVASU CITY – The Lake Havasu City Disc Golf Open Tournament was a hit this past weekend. Many spectators headed over to Sara Park to witness several divisions compete in the ever-growing sport.
The Lake Havasu City Open was a two-day event that began on Saturday, February 3 ending on Sunday, February 4 at the permanent disc golf course located just past Sara Park’s dog park. With a 150 players from all over the southwest, competitors tossed their way into first place for their divisions and played one round of 24 holes.
The Lake Havasu City Disc Golf Club was put together for individuals who share a love of the game and want to have fun while participating in friendly competitions. What exactly is disc golf?
Formally known as frisbee golf, it’s basically a flying disc sport where players can throw discs at a target. With rules similar to the game of golf, the game is typically played on a course consisting of nine to 18 baskets.
Frisbees can be thrown from a tee pad towards the baskets. Frisbees are then tossed again where the previous disc landed, that is until the basket is reached.
The club was accepting donations intended to go toward the Youth Disc Golf Program. The donations will help with disc golf equipment for Lake Havasu’s elementary schools for their physical education classes.
