Details emerge on north Kingman attempted murder

KINGMAN – More details in a north Kingman attempted homicide case have been provided by the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO). The agency previously reported that deputies responded at 2:20 a.m. on Monday, June 16 to an assault reported in the 4700 block of Powell Avenue.

MCSO public information specialist Anita Mortensen said deputies entering the residence discovered a male subject who sustained wounds to his head, chest and stomach area. He was transported to Kingman Regional Medical Center and was in critical condition when flown to a Las Vegas hospital for further care.

Investigation led to the identification of the suspect who fled the scene as Trinidad Alonso Mesa Garcia, 23. He was subsequently located and taken into custody without incident at a residence in the 2400 block of Butler Avenue.

“Interviews with witnesses revealed a verbal altercation escalated into an assault, where Meza Garcia struck the victim in the head with a hammer several times and stabbed him with a knife,” Mortensen said. She said Meza Garcia was booked into the Adult Detention Facility for attempted second-degree murder.
