Community input helps protect Havasu’s waterfront for future generations

LAKE HAVASU CITY, Ariz. – Good news for Lake Havasu City. Thanks to community input and thoughtful planning, the waterfront experiences our residents and visitors have come to love are better protected for generations to come.

The Lake Havasu City Council approved code amendments that reinforce the City’s commitment to preserving public access along both the Island shoreline and Body Beach while providing clear guidance for future planning and development. The action helps ensure these iconic waterfront areas remain accessible destinations for boating, swimming, jet skiing, and countless other recreational activities.

The amendments were shaped by public input gathered during the 2026 General Plan Update process and developed in collaboration with the Lake Havasu City Council, the Arizona State Land Department, and the General Plan Steering Committee. Throughout the process, the community made it clear that preserving public access to the shoreline should remain a priority as Lake Havasu City continues to grow.

“Protecting public shoreline access was one of the priorities we heard throughout the General Plan process,” said Steering Committee member and long-time resident John Parrott. “I hope residents see the value of these protections and support the General Plan so this community vision can become a reality.”

More than a change to City Code, this win reflects the community’s vision for the future and provides a lasting framework to help preserve the waterfront experiences that make Lake Havasu City a special place to live, work, and visit.
