City of Kingman Hosts Job Shadow Day for Kingman Academy Dual Government Students

KINGMAN – The City of Kingman welcomed students from Kingman Academy’s Dual Government class this week for a hands-on Job Shadow Day experience. Departments across the City, including Human Resources, Public Works, Fire, Police, Parks & Recreation, The Kingman Municipal Court and Communications & Marketing, participated in this immersive learning opportunity.

The program offered students a unique behind-the-scenes look at municipal operations and the many career paths available in local government. One of the student participants, Lilly, was assigned to the Human Resources Department, where she observed in-person open enrollment meetings at Public Works and received a guided tour of the facility including the sign shop. Lilly expressed excitement in discovering the wide range of skilled positions the City recruits and hires for, especially in technical and operational fields.

Breanna, the student assigned to the Communications and Marketing Department, collaborated with city staff to draft social media content, including an Instagram reel about proper paint disposal and another highlighting the City’s newly installed ZipKrooz track ride at Centennial Park.

“We were thrilled to partner with Kingman Academy to give students a real-world glimpse into public service,” said City Manager Tim Walsh. “Programs like this not only educate but also inspire the next generation of civic leaders.”

The City of Kingman remains committed to fostering educational partnerships and providing mentorship opportunities that benefit both students and the community at large.
