City of Kingman awarded grant for bridge design at Lewis Kingman Park

KINGMAN – The City of Kingman has announced that it has been awarded a $7,500 grant from the Arizona Community Foundation through the Route 66 Cost-Share Grant program to support the design of the Boxcar Pedestrian Bridge Project at Lewis Kingman Park. The grant funding will cover a portion of the $15,000 design cost to hire a professional engineering firm.

Services will include surveying, development of a concept plan, formation of a site plan, drainage analysis, and the creation of comprehensive designs.

The final design will convert a train boxcar into a functional pedestrian bridge that enhances connectivity within the park. The future bridge will provide safe and convenient access between the main park area and the adjacent open lot, which is currently utilized for overflow parking during community events.

The Arizona Route 66 Grants Committee supported the project, citing its creative concept and contribution to improving park amenities. The City of Kingman looks forward to moving forward with the design phase and continuing efforts to enhance the usability and charm of Lewis Kingman Park.

For more information about the project, please contact the City of Kingman’s Parks Department at 928-757-7919.
