City of Kingman accepting applications for Heritage Preservation Commission

KINGMAN – The City of Kingman is currently accepting applications to fill an opening on the Heritage Preservation Commission (HPC). The appointment will serve a partial term lasting through December 2026, with applications due by September 25, 2025.  Applications will be reviewed and selected by the Kingman City Council during their second meeting in October.

The Heritage Preservation Commission, formerly the Historic Preservation Commission, was created by the Kingman City Council to advise on historic preservation matters in the city. The commission provides recommendations on preserving and restoring historic and archaeological sites, helps maintain an inventory of landmarks, and promotes public awareness of Kingman’s heritage. It also shares preservation standards with property owners, reviews development impacts on historic districts, holds public hearings, and carries out other duties as directed by the Council all with the goal of protecting and celebrating Kingman’s unique history.

The Commission meets bi-monthly on the 4th Tuesday in January, March, May, July, September, and November at 12:00 p.m. Community members appointed to serve are expected to attend these meetings and participate actively in discussions and decision-making.

Applications may be submitted online at https://serve.cityofkingman.gov or by contacting the City Clerk’s Office at (928) 753-8102.
