Dear Editor, I hear a lot about white privilege.  I grew up in Martin county, Kentucky. We were considered one of the poorest counties in the United States. In April, 1964 President Lyndon B. Johnson and his entourage of staff, secret service, media and other politicians swarmed into the county seat of Inez during his war on poverty campaign tour. Dear Editor, I am writing in reference to Mr. Lloyd Dickson of Seligman’s letter, to his statement.” Do away with the Electoral College”. I am writing with a background of service to America. I served in the Regular Army and as a Reserve Soldier for 33 years and three wars. Earning the rank of Sergeant Major. In my civilian life, I served in Law Enforcement for 39 years. Dear Editor, Americans are no strangers to hard economic times. Poverty still exists. Millions struggle with financial despair.  The answers are not always easy but here are possibilities. Look into your local community college and see what training is offered. One and two year programs are typically taught in our public community colleges. You might learn a new trade in as little as a year. Community colleges are affordable. Often there is enough federal grant money to cover the entire cost of your study.
