Music students honored

KINGMAN – Kingman Unified School District #20 is very proud to have 23 students selected by audition for the 2024 Arizona Music Educators Association’s Northwest Arizona High School Regional Honor Music Festival.  Auditions held on January 27 in Flagstaff assessed the technical accuracy of nearly 500 high school musicians through the performance of musical excerpts, memorized scales and sight reading. With one of the largest contingencies from across northern Arizona, Kingman High School and Lee Williams High School students scored well in the rankings with four Kingman musicians earning first chair positions within their respective instrument sections.  The honor music festival performance will showcase the region’s most talented band, choir and orchestra high school students on February 17, 2024 in the Kingman High School…

Hooked on Classics brings Bach, Beethoven

KINGMAN – The Kingman Concert Band is digging deep into its archives to put on their next free concert, Hooked on Classics, at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 24, hosted by Journey Church, 3782 N. Bank Street. Volunteer members of the community band will present a variety of classical music featuring melodies from Bach, Beethoven & the boys while placing a twist on some of the standard classics. French Horn soloist John Holden will be showcased in his rendition of Mozart’s “Concert Rondo in Eb”. Statewide ‘Future Career Art Contest’ underway

The Arizona State Treasurer’s Office together with AZ529, Arizona’s Education Savings Plan, are asking Arizona kindergarten through 6th-grade students to picture their future careers and the education they need to achieve their dreams. The third-annual AZ529 Future Career Art Contest, which launches today, asks students to draw, paint or find a creative way to make an art piece representing their dream job. A total of 15 winners will be selected across the state and receive $529 towards opening a new or existing AZ529 Education Savings Plan account.
