No injuries in garage blaze

LAKE HAVASU CITY – No injuries are reported in a residential structure fire in Lake Havasu City. Fire Department personnel responded at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 10 to the incident in the 2500 block of Tovar Lane. “The occupants discovered smoke in a motor home located in the garage and evacuated the residence,” a news release said. It said it took about 1 hour to bring the fire under control and its cause is under investigation.

Meuchel takes plea in child abuse case

LAKE HAVASU CITY – A Lake Havasu City woman has been released from custody after pleading guilty to the abuse of her children. Michaela Meuchel, 25, exited the Mohave County Adult Detention Center Wednesday, April 10. Freedom was a key term of the plea deal convicting her of two counts of child abuse involving her three and five-year-old kids. Two endangerment charges are dismissed. The Jerry Abrose Veterans Council (JAVC) was formed in July 2010 by two former Marines, Jerry Abrose and Gene Crego. Jerry Ambrose wanted to bring the various veteran organizations together to coordinate their efforts in helping veterans in need and promoting veterans’ issues. When it was originally formed, it was called the Kingman Veterans Council, and the first meeting was held at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10386 in Kingman. Mohave Community College (MCC) introduces cultural activities that the community can explore through their student clubs. Last week the school’s Latino Club hosted a baile folklorico dance class, a dance style that has been present in Mexican culture since the early 1950s. The class took place Friday, April 5 f at Mohave Community College. The Latin Club’s mission was created to give MCC and Lake Havasu a chance to preserve cultural traditions through music, fine arts, and dance.
