ACC vote regarding UNSE Black Mountain Generating Station expansion project

PHOENIX – The Arizona Corporation Commission voted 4 – 1, with Commissioner Anna Tovar dissenting, to reverse the Arizona Power Plant and Transmission Line Siting Committee’s Order regarding an expansion project at the Black Mountain Generating Station operated by UNS Electric, Inc. The Request by UNS Electric, Inc. for a Disclaimer of Commission and Committee Jurisdiction has been granted pursuant to A.R.S. 40-360, and this Decision is effective immediately. The decision means that the Commission does not have mandatory jurisdiction over electric generating plants under 100 MW for line siting purposes, a result dictated by law.

Colorado River conservation efforts continue

The Department of the Interior has announced an initial $700 million allocation from President Biden’s Investing in America agenda for long-term water conservation projects across the Lower Colorado River Basin.
This investment – which has the potential to save more than 700,000 acre-feet of water in Lake Mead – will fund innovative projects like water distribution structures, advanced metering infrastructure, farm efficiency improvements, canal lining, turf removal, groundwater banking, desalination, recycling water and water purification.

Fatal hit and run under investigation

KINGMAN – Kingman police are investigating a hit and run pedestrian fatality. Deputy Chief Joel Freed said the body of a man was found in the roadway of the 900 block of Beale St. in downtown Kingman at about 9:30 p.m. Friday, June 14.
The name of the 68-year-old victim is initially withheld.
“Investigators determined that the male subject had been struck by a west bound vehicle and possibly ran over by an additional vehicle,” Freed said. “At this time the suspected hit and run vehicle is unknown.
Anyone with information about the incident or those involve are asked to contact the Kingman Police Department (928-753-2191) or Mohave Silent Witness (928-753-1234).

Why Bother?

As I have served in the ministry for nearly 35 years, I have done it all it seems.
I have preached over one thousand sermons, been involved in church music as a trainer and as a leader, hosted countless vacation bible schools, traveled with our youth groups to camps, and kept a vibrant midweek bible study going for 20 years.
In addition, I often remark that I have done everything from bathrooms to baptisms. Why? Because it is true.
