Mohave Electric Cooperative crews worked diligently on April 26 afternoon to restore power to Golden Shores members after a kite became entangled in power lines. Mohave Community College is honoring Math Instructor Laurel Clifford for her outstanding efforts to help students.  Mohave Community College is honoring Math Instructor Laurel Clifford for her outstanding efforts to help students.  “She is truly a phenomenal teacher who puts the students first,” wrote the student who nominated Clifford for the Ellen Licari Service to Students award.   Laurel worked with Ellen Licari at the Lake Havasu City campus, and watched Ellen go above and beyond to help students succeed. The VFW has two fund raising yard sales each year, the next taking place May 10 and 11, from 8:00 a.m. until Noon, to benefit Veterans Programs. The Fall Yard Sale helps to fund our contributions for the Boulder City, NV State VA Home residents’ Christmas Wish Lists. All of the residents give a list of 3 items they would like to have. Large or small, they try to fulfill their every wish each year. The money also goes toward the Community Christmas food boxes to make certain everyone in their community has a meal over the Christmas season. The 41st annual Festival of the Arts will be returning to Metcalfe Park, Kingman. Saturday, May 11, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, May 12, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Local artisans will display their creations including paintings, ceramics, photography, and jewelry. Live musical entertainment will be provided by Leonard Interior, Black Lemon, Casey Frank, Ken Kordes, Monte Neil, and belly dancing throughout the weekend. Also featuring food vendors, and children’s art area. The Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) Lake Havasu Field Office completed the infrastructure improvement project to enhance recreational use at Crossroads Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Area. The work included repairing, sealing and striping the parking lot and reconstructing an access road. “We are happy this improvement project is complete and that we were able to enhance recreational access and safer public lands for everyone who enjoys the outdoors in the Lake Havasu area,” said Lake Havasu Acting Field Manager Samantha Carrasco. The Lake Havasu City Police Department is conducting enhanced traffic and DUI enforcement during the Cinco de Mayo weekend, Friday, May 3 through Sunday, May 5. Funding for this effort is provided by a grant awarded by the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety. The Lake Havasu City Police Department reminds everyone participating in Cinco de Mayo festivities to enjoy the weekend responsibly and arrange for a designated driver.
