Local church raising funds for youth camp

Saturday, April 6, College Park Community Church hosted a Yard Sale Fundraiser for their Youth Camp Fund. There were volunteers of all ages out helping with the cause along with some of the youth group and about 10 others. The All Starz Academy Gymnastics Team took part in the Arizona State Xcel Gymnastics Championship on March 2 through 31, in Glendale. Head coach and owner, Brandee Proffit said, “The team had a fantastic showing with lots of impressive scores and places. I am so proud of their accomplishments.” The Arizona State Xcel Gymnastics Championship has three different levels of competition. Arizona teacher salaries down 9.8% over past decade

Nevitt sentenced to 20 years in plea agreement

Local prosecution of young Las Vegans whose crime spree began in Henderson and ended in Kingman last spring ended last Friday with the sentencing of the second defendant. The 20-year sentence imposed for Aveyon Nevitt, 22, was required in a plea agreement convicting him of kidnapping, aggravated assault and theft of means of transportation.    Authorities said Nevitt and co-defendant Raitasha Antoinette Williams-Gardner, 21, kidnapped an Uber driver and her male passenger and forced them to drive into Arizona on May 26, 2018. Picard turns himself in for armed robbery

A strong armed robbery suspect turned himself in after his picture was distributed by the Bullhead City police department. Area media and social media displayed an image of the suspect captured by surveillance system video during the March 31 incident in the Smith’s Food and Drug parking lot in the 1700 block of Lakeside Drive.    Police spokeswoman Emily Fromelt said tips from citizens helped investigators identify the suspect as Steven Alexander Picard, 29.
