Galaxy is performing for the Sounds of Kingman concert at Metcalfe Park, 315 W Beale St, Kingman. The concert begins at 4 p.m. April 28. The cost of admission is free. Originating in Florida in the 70s, Galaxy has been performing to large crowds. The songs of Galaxy over the decades have developed into an eclectic blend of the rhythm & blues, folk, country, and rock styles.
There will be an Easter Sunday breakfast benefiting Kingman’s homeless, veterans, and civilians on Easter Sunday. The event will feature food, drinks, an Easter Egg hunt for the kids, music, and more. The event will be held from 8 a.m. – 1 1 a.m. at the Thunder-Rode Event Center, 102 E. Normal operations at the Mohave County Adult Detention Center in Kingman are suspended as the Sheriff’s Office continues its investigation into drug overdoses involving five inmates. Each of the male inmates required treatment at Kingman Regional Medical Center after they suffered medical emergencies about 7:00 p.m. Tuesday. One inmate was admitted to the hospital, but all five have been returned to the jail. A Kingman man charged in two episodes of violence involving his estranged wife will go to the Arizona Department of Corrections through a plea agreement entered Tuesday. Eric James Maxwell, 42, pleaded guilty to attempted second degree murder in one case and to robbery in the other. Prosecutor Jeff Haws said the robbery occurred in November, 2017 when Maxwell removed a screen to crawl through a window to enter the building where his wife worked in Kingman. Dr. Carolyn Stewart will be the next superintendent of the Bullhead City Elementary School District. Stewart retired from the district in 2015 after 26 years as an elementary and junior high school principal. The 4-0 vote Wednesday night is contingent upon Stewart’s renewal of her Arizona educational certifications. Board president Diane Beardsley said the goal is to have Stewart start as administrator of the grade K-8 district before current Supt. Benje Hookstra retires June 30.
