Ribbon cutting set for Bravo the Bull unveiling

BULLHEAD CITY – The City of Bullhead City will be holding a ribbon cutting celebration for the unveiling of the Bravo the Bull statue on Friday, September 20 at 8:30 a.m. at the corner of Laughlin Ranch Blvd and Hwy 95. Please join Mayor Tom Brady and the Bullhead City Council members in celebrating this wonderful new attraction to the city. A short dedication ceremony, unveiling and ribbon cutting will take place at 8:30 a.m. Light refreshments will be served. Veterans Home receives donation

Kingman Route 66 Rotary Club recently donated ADA-compliance cost and a women’s room to the Veterans Home (formerly the old Mohave County building), 301 Oak St., now under reconstruction by the Jerry Ambrose Veterans Council. Club President Karen Brown, Rotary 5495 District Governor David Simmer and Rotary Club Publicity Co-Chairman Jo Ann Oxsen were given a tour of the facility September 13 by Jerry Ambrose Veterans Council Treasurer Doreen O’Banion. Upon completion, the facility will be staffed 24/7, provide 26 rooms (including eight for opioid crisis) for homeless veterans, and will have a resource computer lab.

Five years imposed for crime spree

KINGMAN – A five-year prison stint has been imposed for a Bullhead City man who said he was addicted to drugs when he committed a spree of violence late last year. Trevor Maestre, 28, was sentenced after entering a plea agreement at the Mohave County Courthouse in Kingman Friday, Sept. 13. Maestre pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and a charge that was reduced to attempted arson of an occupied structure. Deputy County Attorney Jim Ferlmann told the court that Maestre visited the home of a friend where his girlfriend was staying overnight at 470 Malibu Drive on Dec. 12, 2018….

Bats Found in Grand Canyon National Park Test Positive for Rabies

GRAND CANYON – Grand Canyon National Park has received confirmation that two bats collected along the Colorado River in the park last month tested positive for rabies. The rabies-positive bats, both Canyon Bats, were deceased at the time of collection and did not come in contact with any visitors or staff. Rabies is preventable if medical treatment called post-exposure prophylaxis, or PEP, is given following an exposure to a rabid animal.
