KINGMAN – Long Mountain Event Center with Cerbat Motosports will be holding a Scramble Car/SXS and Tuff Truck event on Saturday, Jan. 4. Gates open at 10 a.m. and racing at noon. Gate fee of $5 per person (5 and under free) and $30 to race. All proceeds made will be going back to Long Mountain Event Center. To get to Long Mountain, turn left at the traffic light at Kingman Municipal Airport, go down less than a mile, turn right at Avienda Verde. For more information, contact (928)716-2412.

Havasu dealer going to prison

KINGMAN – A Lake Havasu City drug dealer will be going to the Arizona Department of Corrections under terms of a plea agreement entered Thursday in Kingman. The deal requires Mohave County Superior Court Judge Derek Carlisle to send Sarah Jackson, 39, to prison for 5 to 8 years during a January 31 sentencing hearing. Jackson was on probation for a 2017 drug case when arrested last August 25 in the vicinity of 3511 Iroquois Drive. Prosecutor David Wayt said Jackson was in possession of 5.6 grams of heroin, two grams of methamphetamine and assorted drug paraphernalia including syringes, cotton…

Young enters guilty plea in theft from Yucca Fire District

Superior Court. Matthew Young, 40, pleaded guilty to theft on Thursday in Kingman. Prosecutor James Schoppmann said Young turned himself in at the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office lobby on July 24, 2019. Schoppmann told Court Commissioner Doug Camacho that Young readily admitted his involvement in converting Yucca Fire District funds to personal use. Schoppmann said Young initially had Governing Board permission to use a fire district account to award himself some back pay. Schoppmann said that Young indicated he was unable to stop stealing by moving public money to various fire district accounts while continuing to make unauthorized incremental payments…

KINGMAN – Western Arizona Council of Governments (WACOG) will be hosting a free Mental Health First Aid training on Wednesday, Jan. 29 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the WACOG office, 208 N. Fourth St. This is an eight-hour course that teaches how to help someone who is developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. The training helps identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use disorders. To register or for more information call 928-377-4962 or email melindak@wacog.com.
