BOS Supervisor Bishop challenges challengers

MOHAVE COUNTY – Mohave County Board of Supervisors Chairman Jean Bishop has gone to court in an effort to claim the August 4 republican primary election by bouncing two challengers from the ballot. Bishop filed separate, yet similar lawsuits in Superior Court last Thursday challenging the District 4 candidacies of Rick Armstrong and William Andrews. Bishop contends that both men failed to obtain the required minimum 51 valid signatures on nominating petitions to qualify their campaigns. Dehar sentenced in double shooting

KINGMAN – An 18-year prison term was imposed Friday, April 10, for one White Hills man who shot two others 14 months ago. Donald Dehar, 56, through a plea agreement, was convicted of attempted second degree murder, aggravated assault and misconduct involving weapons. Dehar’s case is being resolved after a delay due to his mental illness. He underwent psychiatric care to return him to competency for legal proceedings to continue. Dehar was calm throughout the sentencing hearing. He cursed and threatened Mohave County Superior Court Judge Derek Carlisle during hearings before he was restored to competency. 31 confirmed virus cases in Mohave County

MOHAVE COUNTY – The Mohave County Department of Public Health (MCDPH)-Nursing staff was notified this evening of a positive COVID-19 case in the Lake Havasu City service area. The individual, who is in the 20-44 year-old age range, is in isolation and recovering at home.  It has yet to be determined if the case is travel-related, epidemiologically-linked to another identified case, or the result of community spread. Public Health nurses are currently in the process of conducting the contact investigation. This new case brings to 31 the total positives cases in the county.
