Monthly dinner is Jan. 9

KINGMAN – The Kathryn Heidenreich Adult Center (KHAC) monthly dinner will be held Thursday, Jan. 11 from 4 p.m until the food is gone. This month’s menu is roast pork, cabbage, potatoes, pearl onions, applesauce, and dinner roll. Dessert will be provided by Harmony Hospice. Your donation of $6.50 assists the center with programs. MOHAVE COUNTY – The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office would like to introduce their two newest deputies who graduated from the Western Arizona Law Enforcement Training Academy on Friday, Dec. 13. Laurel Holdway and Joshua Bare completed a 20-week academy where they gained knowledge in criminal and traffic law, criminal investigation, defensive tactics, and much more. Bullhead City struggles to fill P&Z seats

BULLHEAD CITY – Vacant Planning & Zoning Commission seats was addressed at the Dec. 17 Bullhead City Council meeting. The commission currently has two vacancies and one potential appointee, Aaron Lopez. Lopez was scheduled to speak about his appointment but did not because of his involvement in a championship softball game. In Lopez’ absence, the council approved his appointment unanimously. Panhandling signage is hot topic at BHC council

BULLHEAD CITY – At the Dec. 17 Bullhead City’s City Council meeting an $88,000 odor control system was approved for purchase. The EG-8.2T Duage Biotrickling Odor Control System will be installed near Lakeside Dr., to help with odor caused by sewer waste. Signage was also discussed to discourage the public from encouraging panhandlers in the Bullhead City area. Passive panhandling has been ruled by state and federal courts to be protected free speech. 13-year-old arrested for vandalism in Kingman

KINGMAN – On Thursday, December 19, Kingman Police Department officers arrested a 13-year-old middle school student in connection to more than 50 incidents of criminal damage by graffiti. KPD had been taking reports over the past several days in referenced to multiple accounts of graffiti. According to a KPD press release, the total amount of damage is estimated to be in excess of $31,000. Officers developed suspect information on Wednesday. Two other students are also involved to lesser degrees and will be facing similar charges. Anyone with information or questions can call KPD at (928) 753-2191.

Grandfather, grandchildren escape home fire

LAKE HAVASU CITY – Lake Havasu City Fire Department (LHCFD) responded to a home fire in the 3700 block of Chemehuevi Blvd., on the afternoon of Friday, Dec. 20. According to a LHCFD press release, the occupant had discovered a large fire on the back porch that was quickly extending into the home. The first arriving fire company reported fire through the roof and made the decision to fight the fire defensively outside of the residence.
