LAKE HAVASU CITY – Residents in the 500 block of Acoma Blvd., were able to evacuate their home unscathed after a fire broke out. The occupants discovered fire coming from the roof in the early morning hours of Monday, Dec. 23. Lake Havasu City Fire Department was able to gain control of the blaze in less than 15 minutes and remained on scene for about five hours conducting salvage operation. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
KINGMAN – The Tri-City Council will hold its next meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 8 at 10 a.m. in Kingman at the Kingman Police Department Training Room, 2730 E. Andy Devine. There will be a presentation from Suddenlink and from the Center for the Future of Arizona as well as updates on the 2020 Census activities and a report from the Arizona Department of Transportation. The meeting is open to the public.

KINGMAN – What started out as a fun challenge has blossomed into a full scale specialty event to begin the New Year. The Polar Bear Plunge is open to anyone interested in starting off their new year in a “chilling” way by braving the near freezing waters of Centennial Pool, 3333 Harrison St, at exactly noon on New Year’s Day, January 1. KINGMAN – The Kingman City Council at their Dec. 17 meeting addressed filling vacancies for the Clean City, Planning & Zoning, PARG, and Transit Advisory Commissions. Mike Blair was appointed to a seat on the Historic Preservation Commission. The commission currently has a second seat that remains vacant. Clean City Commissioners C. Russell, Kathy Bowman and Na’qui “Nikki” c’Way’ya, were each reappointed for new terms. Regina Garcia submitted her resignation from the commission; Teresa Woods was appointed in Garcia’s place. LAKE HAVASU CITY – The Lake Havasu City Fire Department (LHCFD) responded to reports of smoke in a residence in the 4000 block of Black Hills Bay the afternoon of Friday, Dec. 20. According to a LHCFD press release, the homeowner reported a fire after finding smoke in the living room; he was able to evacuate. The first arriving fire company reported 20 to 30 foot flames coming from the roof of the residence.
