KINGMAN – The Conservative Republican Club of Kingman will meet Monday, Jan. 13, at 11:15 a.m. at the Dambar Steakhouse, 1960 Andy Devine Ave. Lunch is optional and admission is $3. Guests are welcome and reservations are not necessary. Guest speakers will be Allen Tempert from the Mohave County Elections Department and Mohave County District 1 Supervisor candidate Rebecca Foster.
Mohave County Sheriff K-9 Foundation Board Member Ray McCool is all smiles after receiving a $1,000 check from Jessi Brent and Dan Nemphos, owners of the T-Mobile store in Kingman, on Saturday, Dec. 28. Brant and Nemphos, residents of Bullhead City, donated $1,000 to the K-9 Foundation to be used for the purchase of new K-9s, K-9 training schools. Food, vet care (medications and severe-injury-health insurance), all other associated costs including specialized equipment and training certificates, and they are handled through the foundation. MOHAVE COUNTY – Classic and custom vehicles, and hundreds of spectators from around the tri-state area are expected to converge on the K9 Car and Bike Show during January. This premiere K9 car and bike show, a favorite for local car enthusiasts, is slated for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 18, at CoVeu Drinkery and Eatery, 2247 Clearwater Drive, Bullhead City. FORT MOHAVE – More than 1,600 Mohave Electric Cooperative members experienced two separate power outages Tuesday morning, Dec. 31. MEC became aware of the first outage at 4:20 a.m. caused by a vehicle collision with a utility pole, causing an outage for 68 members. The Mohave County Sheriff’s Department reported the driver called in the accident and appeared to be uninjured. MEC became aware of a second outage at 8:55 a.m. that affected over 1,600 members. BULLHEAD CITY – The Mohave County Sheriff’s office has identified the man who was killed in a Fort Mohave motorcycle crash on Sunday, December 29. Spokeswoman Anita Mortensen said sheriff’s office personnel responding at 4:40 p.m. found Rafael Sanchez, 27, Fort Mohave, dead at the scene of the accident. “It was determined that Sanchez was traveling west on Boundary Cone Road when he failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway and drove into the shoulder,” a news release said. “Witnesses on scene advised that the motorcycle flipped several times as did Sanchez after he was thrown from the motorcycle.”…
KINGMAN – Arizona State law allows for the sale of permissible consumer fireworks. However, the use of any fireworks, other than novelty items, remains illegal within the Kingman City limits. The law allows for the sale of fireworks such as poppers, smokers and sparklers as well as ground-based sparklers, spinners and fountains to be purchased. The City of Kingman does allow for the sale of these fireworks within the City of Kingman, but their use is illegal. Firecrackers that explode and aerial displays such as rockets and roman candles and shells remain illegal for sale and use throughout the state. …
