County experiencing early ballot avalanche

MOHAVE COUNTY – Mohave County voters are returning early ballots for the Nov. 3 general election quickly, and in large numbers. Recorder Kristi Blair said about 30,000 early ballots had been returned to the county by Friday, just nine days after about 82,000 were mailed to county residents who requested them. The more than 60,000 early ballots mailed out for the Aug. primary was a new record for early voting requests in Mohave County. Suspected drowning under investigation

LAKE HAVASU CITY – A suspected drowning is under investigation at Lake Havasu. The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office was notified at 8:20 a.m. Thursday that a body had been spotted in the water. “The Division of Boating Safety responded to the area of Thompson Bay near the Skate Park and located a deceased male subject under water, approximately 100 feet off of the shore,” said sheriff’s spokeswoman Anita Mortensen. “Members of the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Dive Rescue and Recovery Team secured the scene, and recovered the body from the water.” Mortensen said no suspicious circumstances were evident.
