Supervisors receive anti-semitic mail

MOHAVE COUNTY – At least three of the five Mohave County supervisors received an anti-semitic postcard at their home addresses Tuesday. The mailings follow the Board’s Jan. 16 vote adopting a resolution supporting the right of the nation and people of Israel to defend themselves against terrorist aggression. “Stop taking orders from an anti-white zioni$t hate group,” reads the cards received by Chairman Hildy Angius and Supervisors Buster Johnson and Jean Bishop. “These postcards were sent to educate public servants without malicious intent.” The cards assert that the holocaust was fake news and that “Jews did 911.” Angius said she’ll…

County to end state contract on immunizations

MOHAVE COUNTY – At their board meeting on Tuesday, the Mohave County Board of Supervisors in a 3-2 decision, voted to not extend the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) contract that is linked to the CDC’s Bridge Access Program.  According to Supervisor Buster Johnson, who voted in favor of extending the contract, the motion to deny the extension will mean an end to all immunizations once undertaken by the County’s health department.  “I understand the majority of the Board voted this down due to the extension giving us additional funding to administer the COVID-19 vaccines to underinsured individuals; however,…

Mullen-Lamb receives 40-year pin KINGMAN – On Wednesday January 17, the local Fraternal Order of Police (FOP)  Mohave Lodge #16 held an installation and awards dinner at the Hualapai Mountain Resort. Newly elected officers were recognized with pins for the office held.  Additionally, two officers received longevity pins. Pat Mullen-Lamb, who is a Lifetime Member of the Lodge, received her 40-year pin. MOHAVE COUNTY – Mohave County will crown its 2024 spelling bee champion Friday night, Jan. 26. Some 27 fourth through eighth graders have qualified for the competition by winning their elementary school spelling bees to advance to the county finals. 2023 champion Ethan Knudson from Colorado City, now an eighth grader, is back to defend his title representing the Masada Charter School.
