June 6-8, the Arizona Future Farmers of America (FFA) held their annual State Leadership Conference in Tucson, with some events held at the Westin La Paloma Resort, and some at the University of Arizona. At this conference, individuals and teams compete in various competitions known as Career Development Events, most of which are agriculturally-related, such as Aquaculture, Livestock Evaluation, and others. The Kingman Area Master Gardeners present an integrated pest management workshop. It will be Saturday, June 29, at 101 E Beale St., Kingman (Mohave County Coop Extension Building). It will be from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. This workshop is free and open to the public.

Kingman Regional Medical Center (KRMC) will host a Summer Health Expo and Open House on Wednesday, July 10 from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at 3801 Santa Rose Dr. The event is open to the public and will feature free health screenings, health information, refreshments, and giveaways. Beginning June 20, fire restrictions will be implemented on Bureau of Land Management lands within the Colorado River District. The district’s 5.4 million acres of public lands in western Arizona extend from southern Mohave County, along the Colorado River, through La Paz and Yuma Counties and include the management of a small strip of land in southeastern California. Visitors to the area are encouraged to plan before recreating in the area and check for updates for local weather and fire conditions, as localized closures and restrictions are subject to change. Mosquito surveillance conducted this week by the Mohave County Environmental Health Division (MCEHD) revealed the following locations that met the protocol to conduct fogging. The MCEHD uses the CDC’s recommended matrix as a guide of when to fog.  FOGGING: Adult mosquito control application will begin on Friday evening June 21st around 8:00 pm, weather permitting. Baron Pest Control was awarded the contract to provide fogging services within Mohave County and will be conducting the ground fogging application.
